Busan International Music Festival kicks off

If you are going to South Korea this week, you might want to go to the 6th Busan International Music Festival that will run until February 20.

According to Korea.net:
The sixth Busan International Music Festival kicks off on February 13, and will wind up on Feb. 20. This year, the theme is “Harmony between the East and West.”

There will be about 50 musicians performing, including top pianists, violinist, violist and cellists. Armenian-American concert pianist Sergei Babayan will make an appearance in what is sure to be a festival highlight.

The festivities will take begin at the Paradise Hotel on Feb. 13, and the opening concert will be held at the Busan Cultural Center’s Main Hall on Feb. 14.

The opening  and finale concerts will focus on chamber music played by musicians from Canada, China, Korea, Taiwan, America and Japan. The festival also features a music academy, where students majoring in music can learn techniques from master musicians.

“The sixth Busan International Music Festival will provide the best in musical performances for people living in Busan, and inspire passion in young musicians,” said a staff member from the festival. (Jun Kyung Oh)
