MANILA, Philippines - Hallyu actor Jang Dong-gun was declared as Style Icon of the Year at the 2012 Style Icon Awards (SIA) held on Oct. 25 in Seoul, South Korea.
The awards ceremony honored Korea's "Most Stylish Icons that Brightened 2012."

Jang Dong-gun is one of Korea's most popular stars. He starred this year in the Korean drama "A Gentleman's Dignity," which ranked in the Top 5 shows in the ratings.
Ten Style Icon awardees were also honored including boy band Super Junior, Psy, Suzy, Song Joong Ki, Lim Soo Jung, Yu Joon Sang, Seo In Guk, A Pink's Jung Eunji, Ha Jung Woo and SISTAR.
Jang Dong-gun said this year was good to him.
"I feel great to have received such a big award. This year was a good year; I′ve personally been very happy these days," ENews World quoted him as telling the press after he got the award.
"Most of the films I starred in were heavy, so my audience was mostly saddened after watching them. I thought I would like people to enjoy watching me act, so that′s why I decided to appear in the romantic comedy piece 'A Gentleman′s Dignity.' So many people loved it and I was able to come closer to the public," he said.
A Special Award was given to singer Yoon Bok Hee while rapper Yoon Mirae received the SK II People’s Choice Award.
Actress Go Joon Hee received the Fashion Icon Award and Jo Jeong Seok and Jo Yoon Hee got the New Icon Awards.
A total of 50 stars made it as nominees in 10 categories.
The Style Icon Awardees were chosen based on the following criteria: selection by style specialists (40 percent), research preferences (30 percent) and online voting (30 percent).
