In the UK, "Gangnam Style" sold 878,000 copies to become the sixth bestselling single in 2012.
The Official Charts Company released the UK's Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles of 2012. It said total singles sold in 2012 reached an all-time high of 186.6 million, up from 177.9 million in 2011.
Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and Fun.'s "We Are Young" also topped the list with 1.31 million, 1.14 million and 986,000 copies sold in 2012, respectively.

On the latest Billboard charts, "Gangnam Style" re-entered the top 10 on the Hot 100 "benefiting from nostalgia-fueled year-end airplay and sales surges."
"Gangnam Style" leaped to sixth place from 19th last week. The song peaked to No. 2 in 2012 on the Hot 100 chart.
The song is also No. 1 on Rap Songs and Ringtones, No. 3 on Digital Songs, No. 4 on On-Demand Songs, No. 26 on Latin Airplay and No. 34 on Pop Songs.
Psy made his final "Gangnam Style" performance in the US during the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."
"The song became too popular, and so you start to have some concern about its life period. I'm really working hard on a new single right now, and I'm not saying ['Gangnam'] is ending on 'Dick Clark' — I still have a lot of invitations to perform it ... I'll be in Paris, and in February I got invited to perform in China, and I've still got to do promo. So let me say that in America I need a new single because 'Gangnam Style' got too popular, so I've got to write a new single," Psy told MTV News.
