Psy gets booed at Italian football match finals

By JONATHAN HICAP, Manila Bulletin
Korean rapper Psy got a taste of Italian inhospitality when he was booed by the audience at the Coppa Italia football finals between clubs Lazio and Roma last May 26.

Psy sang his global hit “Gangnam Style” before the match held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome but the audience kept booing him during his performance, and even lit firecrackers in the middle of it.

“Italy is known as a passionate country so I understand the response,” said Psy, adding that such things happen in soccer matches in Korea.

Perhaps to make light of the recent incident, Psy tweeted, “Whenever I'm not happy, I'm watching this!! PSY Gangnam Style Seoul City Hall concert.”
Meanwhile, at the Cannes Film Festival, a Psy impostor crashed the celebrated event and partied with stars.

“For two days the dead-ringer was showered with champagne and posed for pics with celebrities, including Adrien Brody and Bond girl Naomie Harris, who enthusiastically tweeted a shot with the Psy look-alike at a Chopard party,” according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

“Me and @psy_oppa at the @Chopard party in #Cannes!!" tweeted Harris together with a photo of her and the fake Psy.

Psy was alerted of the imposter and he tweeted, “Seems like there's another ME at cannes...say Hi to him @scooterbraun lol.”

Harris later tweeted, “It looks as if we've been fooled, that wasn't the real @psy_oppa! Could anyone else tell from the picture? Or am I just going crazy!? Haha!”

The real Psy was in the US when the fake Psy was partying at Cannes.

Last week, Psy won the Top Streaming Song (Video) award for “Gangnam Style” at the Billboard Music Awards.

“Gangnam Style” is the most viewed video on YouTube, amassing 1.6 billion views to date.

Psy also performed his new song “Gentleman” on “Live! with Kelly and Michael.”

The famous rapper was in Singapore last May 23 and attended the 2013 Social Star Awards.

Psy will be co-hosting and performing at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, on June 16.
