Psy set to perform at 'American Idol' finale

By JONATHAN HICAP, Manila Bulletin
Korean rapper Psy will be performing his latest single "Gentleman" at the finale of "American Idol," which will be aired in the US on May 16.
The finale of the FOX show will decide who will be crowned as the new "American Idol" between finalists Candice Glover and Knee Harrison.
Besides Psy, other performers at the finale are former "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez and current judges Keith Urban and Mariah Carey, according to the "Idol" blog mjsbigblog.

"American Idol alum, Adam Lambert, will perform with Angie Miller. The Band Perry will sing with 5th placer, Janelle Arthur and Frankie Valli will perform with the Top 10 boys," it said.
Psy is in the US to promote "Gentleman." The song is at No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, down from No. 26 the previous week.
Last week, Psy talked about his success at Harvard University while Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong dissed Psy, calling him "the herpes of music."
At Harvard, Psy talked about the success of "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman."
“This is really weird, isn’t it?” After 14 years, who knew I’d come back to [give] a speech at Harvard? Isn’t life beautiful?” said Psy, according to the Harvard Magazine.
Psy told the audience that when he was attending Boston University School of Management in the 1990s, his nickname was "WWF," or "withdraw, withdraw, fail."
The magazine said Psy told the audience that when he wrote "Gangnam Style," his goal was to make people laugh.
“I tried my best to be as ridiculous as possible,” Psy said.
After "Gangnam Style," Psy released "Gentleman." The music video for the song has so far garnered 325 million views on YouTube since it was released last April 13.
“There should be a specific reason why people chose me. They didn’t choose me because I’m handsome, they didn’t choose me because I’m muscular… the reason why they chose me is because I have fun with the music, with the dance, with the video,” he said.
On the other hand, Armstrong uploaded a picture of Psy on Instagram and described him as the "herpes of music."
"This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it's gone, it comes back. #herpes #flareup #pleasegoaway," he wrote. The post now has 2,889 comments.
Instead of getting pissed, Psy thanked Armstrong for the comment.
"I kind of like it, it's cool. I should say something to him. He's saying I'm like herpes, keep coming back. I think it's really cool and I appreciate that. Thank you," Psy told FUSE TV.
