Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye’s new drama premieres

“The Heirs,” the comeback drama of Korean stars Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye, premiered last night with mixed results in the ratings.
According to TNmS Korea, the SBS drama posted a 9.9 percent rating nationwide in Korea on Oct. 10 to place 13th overall. In Seoul, it garnered a 12 percent rating to rank fifth.

On the other hand, “The Heirs” achieved 11.6 percent rating nationwide and placed seventh overall based on AGB Nielsen Korea. It got 13.1 percent rating in Seoul and ranked sixth.
The ratings for the pilot episode of “The Heirs” are lower compared to its predecessor, “Master’s Sun,” starring So Ji-sub and Gong Hyo-jin.
“Master’s Sun” premiered last August in third place overall with 17.5 percent (TNmS) and 13.6 percent (AGB Nielsen Korea) in ratings.
Another drama, “Medical Top Team,” also premiered last night, garnering 6.5 percent (TNms) and 7.3 percent (AGB Nielsen Korea) in the ratings. The MBC drama stars Kwon Sang-woo, Jung Ryeo-won, Ju Ji-hoon, Oh Yeon-seo and Minho of SHINee.
“The Heirs” tells the story of rich high school students who are heirs of conglomerates in South Korea.
Lee Min Ho plays the role of Kim Tan, an 18-year-old heir to the Empire Group of companies, who falls in love with Cha Eun-sang, played by Park Shin Hye, the daughter of the Empire Group’s maid.
The drama has a star-studded cast. Besides Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye, “The Heirs” also has actor and model Kim Woo Bin, Krystal of girl group f(x), Kang Min-hyuk of CNBlue, Hyungsik of boy band ZE:A, Kim Ji-won, Kang Ha-neul and Choi Jin-hyuk.
The cast attended a press conference for the drama recently where Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye revealed that they are friends in real life.
Park Shin Hye said they first met in 2009 for a modeling project.
“We were models for a cosmetics company in 2009. Whenever we were about to get close, the shoot would finish and then we would just become awkward with each other again,” she said, according to ENewsWorld.
She added, Whenever we meet, we always fool around, making it comfortable and easy for the shooting to continue.”
Lee Min Ho said whenever she sees Park Shin Hye, “I want to buy her something. I think she fits her character.”
