Report: Korean actress cast in ‘Avengers’ sequel

Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun (also known as Yoo Ri El and Claudia Kim) has been cast in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” according to Korean media.
Reports were abuzz in South Korea that the actress has been chosen to be in the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster “Avengers,” which raked in $1.5 billion at the box office.

About 50 Korean actresses auditioned for the role and Kim Soo Hyun was reportedly picked mainly because of her fluency in English. She took International Studies at Ewha Women’s University in South Korea and is fluent in Korean and English.
The actress has appeared in Korean dramas “Queen of the Game” in 2006, “The Fugitive: Plan B” in 2010, “Romance Town” in 2011, “Brain” in 2011,”Standby” in 2012 and “7th Grade Civil Servant” in 2013.

Kim Soo Hyun posted photos online that showed her at a shooting range, which many have guessed to be part of her preparation for the role.
In addition, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will also be filmed in South Korea including in the Gangnam area.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will star Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk/Dr. Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Maria Hll, Samuel Jackson as Nicky Fury, James Spader as Ultron and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch.
No formal announcement has been made by Marvel Studios regarding the casting of Kim Soo Hyun.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be released on May 1, 2015.
