Koreans pick favorite TV shows for March 2016

The Korean TV variety show “Infinite Challenge” was chosen by Koreans as their most favorite TV show for March, garnering 13 percent, according to a survey.

Gallup Korea released the results of the top 20 most favorite TV shows in Korea in a poll among 1,002 respondents who were 19 years old and above.

“Infinite Challenge,” which stars Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Jeong Jun-ha, Park Myeong-su and ZE:A’s Kwanghee, maintained its No. 1 position for the 18th consecutive month.

The hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” came second with 12.3 percent. Starring Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, the drama started airing in February and finished its run last April 14 with record ratings.

Another drama, “Signal,” which starred Lee Je-hoon, Kim Hye-soo and Cho Jin-woong, came third with 5.1 percent followed by the period drama “Six Flying Dragons” with 4.7 percent.

“Six Flying Dragons” stars Yoo Ah-in, Kim Myung-min, Shin Se-kyung, Byun Yo-han, Yoon Kyung-sang and Chun Ho-jin.

“Running Man,” a variety show featuring Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Gary, Kim Jong-kook, Lee Kwang-soo, Song Ji-hyo and Ji Suk-jin, came fifth overall with 2.8 percent.

Tied for sixth place are the singing competition “King of Mask Singer” and talk show “Ssulzun” with 2.6 percent, followed by the drama “Sweet Home, Sweet Honey” with 2.5 percent, variety show “1 Night 2 Days” with 2.3 percent, and drama “Tomorrow Victory” and reality TV show “The Return of Superman” with 2.2 percent.

Placing 11th to 20th are “Youth Over Flowers” and “Gag Concert” with 1.6 percent; “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” 1.5 percent; “The It’s Know,” 1.4 percent; “Radio Star,” 1.3 percent; drama “Jang Yeong-sil,” 1.2 percent; “K-pop Star,” 1.1 percent; and “Gayo Stage,” 0.9 percent.  (Jonathan Hicap)
