Crayon Pop scores 1st win, viral music video blocked

K-pop group Crayon Pop scored their first TV music chart award for their viral song "Bar Bar Bar."
The group performed the song on KBS "Music Bank" on Aug. 30. Crayon Pop and EXO were the nominees for the top spot but in the end, Crayon Pop won with 5,770 points against the boy band's 5,677.

Heechul posts photos on Instagram after his discharge from the military

Super Junior member Heechul was discharged from the army this morning and received a commendation for his exemplary service in the last two years.
Heechul, who served as public service worker, was discharged at about 9 a.m. in Seongdong, Seoul.

Han Chae Young Gives Birth to a Boy

Han Chae Young gave birth to a baby boy.

A rep from BH Entertainment, Han Chae Young′s agency, told enews on August 30 that "at 1 p.m. on August 29, Han Chae Young gave birth with the support of her family at a hospital."

"She had to give birth through an operation, but she and her baby are all in healthy condition," the rep added.

Actor attacks cheating rumor

Leading actor Kwon Sang-woo, who most recently starred in the SBS drama “King of Ambitions,” is strongly denying sudden rumors that he is dating actress-model Kang Ye-bin.

The actor has been married for nearly five years to actress Son Tae-young of the KBS drama “You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin.” Kwon posted a message on his fan cafe yesterday stating that the rumors, which started from local financial firms, are not true.

Block B to resume career under new agency

K-pop boy band Block B will be resuming their career under a new company following their legal dispute with their agency.
The group will transferring from Stardom Entertainment to Seven Seasons agency. Block B and Stardom Entertainment have settled their issue pertaining to the former's exclusive contracts.

JYJ's Jaejoong wins Best Hallyu OST award at Seoul Drama Awards

K-pop group JYJ member Kim Jaejoong has won the Best Hallyu Drama OST award at the 2013 Seoul International Drama Awards.
Jaejoong will be receiving the award at the ceremony, which will be held on Sept. 5 at the National Theatre of Korea.

IU's weekend drama ends on top of ratings

Big Bang's Seungri on producing his new album and maturity

Big Bang's youngest member Seungri said producing his second mini album "Let's Talk About Love" brought changes in him and he was satisfied with the results.
Seungri released the album last Aug. 19, which was also the date when Big Bang debuted in South Korea in 2006. He is currently promoting the album on music TV shows.

'Hide and Seek,' 'The Flu' top Korean box office

Thriller "Hide and Seek" and the drama "The Flu" topped the box office in Korea, earning a combined total of 30,817,723,000 won (about P1.2 billion) since the two films opened last Aug. 14.
As of Aug. 19, "Hide and Seek," stars Son Hyeon-joo, Moon Jeong-hee and Jeon Mi-seon, has grossed a total of 16.85 billion won (about P658.35 million) as of Aug. 19 to top the box office.

Actor-theater director dies in drowning accident

An actor and theater director best known for appearing in the 2011 drama "Dream High" was found dead in what police said was a case of drowning.
The body of Baek Won Gil, 42, was found at about 9 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the waters of Namdaecheon in Gangwon, South Korea.

9 Korean films vie for Oscar entry

Korean actors Lee Jong-suk and Seo In-guk arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday for the filming of the movie "No Breathing."
The two arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and boarded their flight to Davao, where the film will be shot.

Korean movie 'No Breathing' to be filmed in Davao

The stars and crew of the Korean film "No Breathing" will be shooting the last scenes of the movie in Davao, according to an official of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
"Yes, we can hold our breaths as the hottest stars in South Korea today are coming to shoot the last 7 days of their film in our region. The producers are vetting final locations for the shoot that will involve 15 actors and a crew four times bigger," posted DOT Regional Director Art Boncato on his Facebook account.

Big Bang's leader G-Dragon has courted controversy over his Instagram photo that showed him wearing black face paint and a hoodie that resembled the image of teen Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed in Florida last year. said, "But this time G-Dragon might have gone too far. As with Frank Ocean, Diddy, the-Dream, and others after news of Martin's shooting death broke last year, the K-pop idol wears what looks like a hoodie (though may be a T-shirt pulled up over his head), in apparent tribute to Martin. But he's also wearing black face paint."

Heartthrob Song Joong Ki to enlist in the army this month

Legions of fans woke up today to news that actor Song Joong Ki will be enlisting in the army later this month to fulfill his duty as a Korean citizen.
It was announced by Blossom Entertainment, the actor's agency, that Song Joong Ki will be entering the army on Aug. 27 and will serve for two years.
