Korean music festival tragedy: 16 dead, 11 injured

The Korean police raided the offices of the sponsor and organizer of the 1st Pangyo Techno Valley Festival on October 19 as investigation was launched to know their culpability following the concert tragedy.
Sixteen people died and 11 were injured when a ventilation grate they were standing on collapsed during the K-pop concert in Gyeonggi Province in South Korea last October 17.

14 feared dead in K-pop concert accident

At least 14 people are feared dead when a ventilation grate collapsed during a K-pop concert in Gyeonggi Province, according to Korean media.
The Pangyo Techno Valley Festival featuring 4Minute, T-ara, Junggigo, 2BiC, TransFixion and Cherry Filter was ongoing on Friday, Oct. 17, in Bundang, Seongnam City when the accident happened.

4Minute wins first comeback trophy

K-pop quintet 4Minute notched their first TV music chart triumph since making their comeback with their new mini-album “4Minute World,” which contains five tracks including the lead single “Whatcha Doin’ Today.”
The girl group performed the title track on SBS “Inkigayo” on March 30, competing with other artists including CNBLUE, Girls’ Generation, 2NE1, Orange Caramel, Boys Republic and JJCC.

3rd Gaon K-pop Awards winners

Twelve artists who topped Korea’s premier music chart in 2013 were recognized at the 3rd Gaon Chart K-pop Awards held on Feb. 12 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, with each getting a Song of the Year award for their respective hits.

K-pop concert in Singapore cancelled

A much-awaited K-pop concert in Singapore that would have featured acts like EXO, SHINee and KARA was cancelled by the organizer due to “contractual obligations” to a Korean broadcasting company.
Fans are angry and scrambling to get ticket refunds after Fatfish Entertainment announced that the “MBC Korean Wave In Singapore 2013″ concert would not push through.

Billboard Exec Impressed With K-pop Artists; Hyuna Talks About Her Rumored US Debut

MANILA, Philippines - The editorial director of Billboard is impressed with K-pop artists and says that the "right song" like Psy's "Gangnam Style," regardless of its language, can succeed in the US market.
Bill Werde said this as response to my question during Billboard's IAmA ("I am a") question-and-answer session on popular social site Reddit last Feb. 1.

3 Filipino Fan Sites Officially Recognized, Accredited By Cube Entertainment

MANILA, Philippines - Last month, Cube Entertainment, the agency of K-pop artists BEAST, 4Minute and G.NA, announced that it would appoint official fan sites in various countries “in order for all Cube artists to build a strong global fan community, communication routes and faster local feedbacks.”

Two Pinoy fans win in KBS K-pop contest in Seoul

MANILA, Philippines – Three K-pop fans, one from Singapore and two from the Philippines, won in a K-pop sing and dance contest held by Korean TV channel KBS World in Seoul, South Korea to celebrate its eighth anniversary on July 1.

4minute wins 2010 Billboard Japan Music Award

The ladies of 4minute are off to a great start after the lunar new year holidays, as they've been awarded the "KPop New Artist Award" at the 2010 Billboard Japan Music Awards on February 6th.
