Pinay group gets the boot on ‘Superstar K6’

By JONATHAN HICAP, Manila Bulletin
Four-sister Filipino singing group MICA got eliminated on the Korean TV talent search “Superstar K6,” ending their journey as top 8 finalist.
In the Oct. 24 episode of “Superstar K6,” MICA, composed of sisters Mylene, Irene, Celina and Almira, performed Seo Taiji and Boys’ debut single “I Know.”

After their performance, MICA got a total score of 346 from the judges: 82 from Baek Ji Young; 89 from Yoon Jong Shin, 86 from Kim Bum Soo, and 89 from Lee Seung Chul.
With the score and text votes, MICA became part of the bottom 3 contestants along with group Burstered and Lee Jun Hee.
In the end, MICA and 15-year-old Lee Jun Hee were eliminated.
“Thank you very much ‘Superstar K’ for giving us the opportunity to perform in this bigger stage, beautiful stage that we ever dreamed. This is such an amazing journey that we will never forget,” said Almira as they bid goodbye during the program.
The top 11 contestants were scored based on the judges’ score (40 percent) and text votes (60 percent).
Fans were disappointed with the result but said they were so proud of MICA, especially that they had to sing in Korean.
With the elimination of MICA, the top 6 finalists are now all male. They are Kwak Jin Eon, Kim Feel, Song Yu Bin, Lim Do Hyeok, Jang Woo Ram and Burstered.
