Wonder Girls Joins Christina Aguilera, Others In Special Christmas Album

MANILA, Philippines - K-pop quintet the Wonder Girls has participated along with global stars in a Christmas album that will benefit the Special Olympics.
The "A Very Special Christmas" music series will be issued in the US on Oct. 16 in two albums: The "A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary" and "A Very Special Christmas: Bringing Peace on Earth."

The Wonder Girls' song "Best Christmas Ever" is in the "A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary" album, which also features Christina Aguilera, Francesca Battistelli, Michael Bublé, Cheap Trick, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Jewel, Jono, Lauriana Mae, Dave Matthews, Martina McBride, Jason Mraz, One Republic, Rascal Flatts, Grayson Sanders, Jordin Sparks and Train.

The "A Very Special Christmas: Bringing Peace on Earth" showcases Meredith Andrews, Chris August, BarlowGirl, Francesca Battistelli, Big Daddy Weave, Building 429, Jason Castro, Jamie Grace, Natalie Grant, Group 1 Crew, for KING & COUNTRY, Dara Maclean, NEEDTOBREATHE, Point of Grace, Mark Schultz, and Sidewalk Prophets.
The first album was released in 1987 and the succeeding albums have generated more than $100 million for the Special Olympics.
The Wonder Girls is also the goodwill ambassador for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Timothy Shriver, chairman and CEO of the Special Olympics, said, “This album series has been a remarkable gift to our Special Olympics athletes. Thanks to the generosity of countless incredible people across the music industry, the legacy from the ‘A Very Special Christmas’ album series continues to support and sustain our work to bring the joy of sport to people with intellectual disabilities which in turn fosters a global community of acceptance and inclusion.”
According to the album website, the ‘A Very Special Christmas’ series was created by Jimmy and Vicki Iovine and Bobby Shriver with the help of Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss.
The series "has brought together top musical talent who donated their time and talent, and publishers and record labels who gave consent and waived royalties."
The Wonder Girls will hold shows in the US this week, traveling to New York, Florida and Texas.
On Dec. 1, the Wonder Girls and Akon will perform at the KIIS-FM's "Jingle Ball" at the Nokia Theatre LA Live along with Taylor Swift, Neyo, Ellie Goulding and OneRepublic.
The second night of the concert on Dec. 3 will showcase Justin Bieber, Psy, Ke$sha, Flo Rida, The Wanted, Afrojack, Owl City and Zedd.
