Charice angry over airing of 'Star King' segment

By JONATHAN HICAP, Manila Bulletin

MANILA, Philippines – Filipina singer Charice made her fourth appearance last April 7 on Korean TV talent show “Star King,” the show that helped launch her international singing career back in 2007.
However, Charice was “appalled and angry” when the show aired.

Courtney Blooding, who is reportedly Charice’s personal assistant and road manager, blasted “Star King” on Twitter for airing Charice’s segment on the show, saying it was “inappropriate.”
Blooding said Charice’s “Star King” taping and performance were done without approval.
“FYI for all Chasters, starking taping and performance was NOT approved by @OfficialCharice [Charice’s official Twitter account] and management. The show was inappropriate,” she tweeted after the airing of “Star King.”
Blooding added that, “@OfficialCharice and I are both APPALLED and angry.”
Charice, meanwhile, declined to explain to a fan what happened during the taping of “Star King.”
“I'm afraid I can't. But it was very bad,” Charice said via Twitter on April 10.
Blooding said “Star King” was not supposed to air Charice’s segment. However, she did not make it clear if they had come to a formal agreement with the show not to air the segment after they had taped it.
“I am angry...they were not supposed to air the show. The is a lot of behind the scenes that I can't tell you about,” Blooding nevertheless insisted.
On the show, Charice sang Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love for You” and “Before It Explodes,” a song that is included in her “Infinity” album that was released last year in Japan.
She also sang “If I Ain’t Got You” together with Korean singer K.Will.
Charice’s segment on “Star King” showed clips of her first appearance on the show in 2007, as well as her appearances on the “Oprah” show and Celine Dion’s concert. It also showed photos of her dad’s funeral.
Blooding posted: “Star King was disrespectful and rude. [Charice] said it's not the same show it used to be.”
She added that the “content was inappropriate.”
Charice taped “Star King” last March 20, a day before she held her Seoul concert.
“Star King” is hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Boom and Park Mi Sun. Celebrities who were part of the panel during the April 7 show included boy band 2AM, Brave Girls, X-5, B1A4 and Teen Top.
Charice first appeared on “Star King” in 2007. The video became viral and resulted in her being invited by Ellen DeGeneres to her TV talk show in the US in the same year.
She came back to perform on “Star King” again in 2007 and then in 2010.
“Star King” has not issued a statement on the matter as of press time.
