Winners in Korea Kids’ Choice Awards 2012

MANILA, Philippines — Boy band BEAST and solo artist IU are the top winners in the Korea Kids’ Choice Awards 2012 organized by Nickelodeon Korea.

BEAST garnered 3,496 votes to win as best male singer over last year’s winner, 2PM, in the online poll participated in by 8,283 respondents in Korea.
Last month, BEAST held their “Beautiful Concert” tour in Japan.
IU got 3,567 votes and was chosen as best female singer over Girls Generation. This is the second straight year that IU won the award.
The singer made her debut in Japan last month, following in the steps of other Korean artists. She released the Japanese version of her song “Good Day,” which debuted in the top 10 of Japan’s Oricon chart.
On the other hand, Yoo Jae Suk was voted for the fifth straight year as Korea’s best comedian, garnering 5,236 votes.
Yoo Jae Suk is the host of the popular variety show “Running Man.”
Kim Soo Hyun, who rose to stardom via the Korean drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” was selected as best actor over Song Joong Ki, winning in the category with 3,862 votes.
Following the success of the drama, Kim Soo Hyun became the favorite endorser of many brands in Korea.
“SpongeBob SquarePants” won as best animation while “Kung Fu Panda 2” won as best film.
The Korea Kids’ Choice Awards followed the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2012 held last March 31 in the US where Filipina singer Charice won as Favorite Asian Act.
