Spouses of world leaders get a taste of K-pop

MANILA, Philippines – On the last day of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit in South Korea on March 27, the wives of world leaders who were attending the event were treated to traditional dance and K-pop music.

South Korea’s First Lady Kim Yoon-ok hosted a luncheon for 15 spouses including Mrs. Elenita Binay, spouse of Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay; and Yoo Soon Taek, wife of UN Secretary General Ban Kin-moon.
Also in attendance were the wives of world leaders from Singapore, South Africa, India, Indonesia, Chile, Turkey, Vietnam, Switzerland, Gabon, Nigeria and the European Union.
The event was held at Yeongbingwa, or the Guest House, of Cheong Wa Dae, the office and residence of President Lee Myung-bak.
The program started with the Korean traditional costume performance.
It was followed by the performance of Korean singer Sung Si-kyung who rendered the songs “”The First Time” and “Kissing a Fool.”
Korean boy band JYJ capped the event, performing their songs “In Heaven” and “Be My Girl.” JYJ members are the ambassadors of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.
According to Korean media, the spouses were very pleased with the performance of JYJ that those from Switzerland, Vietnam, Philippines, Chile and South Africa had their picture taken with the boy band.
First Lady Kim Yoon-ok also told JYJ member Yoochun that she’s enjoying his new Korean drama “Rooftop Prince.”
