"You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin," the KBS2 weekend drama of K-pop princess IU and actor Jo Jung-suk, aired its 50th and last episode in South Korea on Aug. 25 and ended a successful five-month run on top of the ratings.
The drama's last two episodes aired on Aug. 24 and 25 with ratings of 25.6 percent and 30.1 percent nationwide and remained at No. 1 on the ratings, according to data from AGB Nielsen Korea.
On its last day, "You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin" edged out the drama "Gold, Appear!," which got 20.6 percent, "Gag Concert" with 17.3 percent, "Dad, Where Are We Going?" and "Real Men" with 16.8 percent, and the drama "Scandal" with 16.5 percent.
TNMS Korea data also showed "You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin" as the No. 1 TV program on Aug. 25 with 29.3 percent in rating.
The drama started airing in March with two episodes every weekend. Its first episode debuted on top of the ratings.
During its six-month run, "You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin" became the top-rating program.
This is IU's first lead role in a drama. She previously appeared in "Dream High" and "Dream High 2."
IU played the role of the main character Lee Soon Shin, who struggled after the death of her father.
Jo Jung-suk played the role of Shin Joon-ho, the president of an entertainment company, who offered Lee Soon Shin to be a star in his company.
As a reward for the success of the drama, the production company that produced the drama rewarded cast and staff with a vacation in Cebu in the Philippines.
About 50 people who worked in the drama will spend five days in the Philippines.
Last April, the staff and crew of the No. 1 drama "That Winter, The Wind Blows" vacationed in Cebu after the series ended.
Recently, Korean actors Lee Jong-suk and Seo In-guk went to Davao to film the movie "No Breathing."
