MANILA, Philippines - Korean star Park Shin Hye held her first fan meeting in Manila last March 16 and surprised everyone when she sang the Filipino song "Kailan" by MYMP.
The popular actress sang, danced and played games with fans as she kicked off her six-country Kiss of Angel Asia Tour in the Philippines.
The Asia Tour is in celebration of her 10th anniversary since debuting in the Korean entertainment industry in 2003.
Park Shin Hye's rendition of "Kailan" drew loud applause and cheers from her fans as she sang the lyrics perfectly.
Fans praised the star for really making an effort to memorize the lyrics of the song.
"Wow. Ang galing niya magtagalog a" and "She sang it so beautifully! Aww the song fits her voice :) Haha she sounds bit like a native!" were some of the comments on YouTube.
She opened the fan meeting by singing "Lovely Day," a song she recorded for the original soundtrack of the Korean drama "You're Beautiful."
Park Shin Hye also had a question-and-answer part during the fan meeting.
When asked to choose her top 3 best onscreen partners, she selected Jang Geun Suk and CNBLUE's Yonghwa, her co-stars on "You're Beautiful," and actor Lee Seung-gi.
She also sang "Pitch Black" from the drama "Flower Boy Next Door" and "The Day We Fell In Love" from the "Heartstrings" original soundtrack.
Park Shin Hye showed her dancing skills in a medley of Hyuna's "Bubble Pop," SISTAR's "Alone" and Girls' Generation's "Genie."
Korean stars who have worked with Park Shin Hye also sent their congratulatory video messages.
Boy band CNBLUE's Yonghwa said, "We congratulate Ms. Park Shin Hye for having an Asia Tour in her 10th year. While shooting the drama series with Shin Hye, I saw the kind side and so many other sides of Shin Hye and received a lot of help. My heartfelt congratulations to you. I'm her friend and she's already on her tenth year. I think it's really awesome. I hope she continues to show us great works in 20, 30 or 100 years to come."
FT Island's Hongki said, "Our Miss Shin Hye is already on her tenth year since debut. We congratulate her tenth year Asia Tour. Congratulations and I hope you have a great time with your fans. I really want to come over but schedule always conflicts."
"Congratulations Miss Park Shin Hye for the tenth year Asia Tour," said Lee Seung-gi. "For ten years, our Park Shin Hye continuously makes everyone feel happy. [She's] always courteous, full of healthy energy so I'm always glad when I see her. She's such a talented friend, good dancer, good singer and good singer."
He added, "But recently, she became too feminine and it's difficult to call her a 'friend' now because she makes me [feel] shy sometimes. Always stay healthy and congratulations."
On Twitter, Park Shin Hye thanked her Filipino fans.
"The Philippines is the best. Thank you. Filipino fans are the best. Hope to see you again next time," she said.
She is the first Korean actress to hold an Asia Tour. The Manila fan meeting was organized by Behind The Scene and Fangirlasia.
