Fans want Girls Generation to hold concert in the Philippines

Here's an article from Manila Bulletin, a leading English newspaper in the Philippines, about Filipino fans wanting K-pop girl group Girls Generation to come to Manila for a concert. Manila Bulletin has been publishing articles about Korean pop and entertainment almost everyday.

MANILA, Philippines (Feb. 8, 2011) — Filipino fans of top K-pop group Girls Generation have launched an online petition to entice the all-female band to visit the Philippines and hold a concert here.

The online petition will assess how many K-pop fans in the Philippines will be attending if Girls Generation decides to hold a concert in the country.

“Hello everyone, we want to know how enthusiastic the Filipino Sones and other Kpop Lovers are if SNSD will be able to perform in the Philippines,” the petition stated.

Girls Generation launched their “Into The New World” Asia concert tour in 2009 in Seoul, South Korea. Last year, the concert tour went to Shanghai, China, and Taipei, Taiwan.

Filipinos Sones (the collective name for Girls Generation fans) are hoping that the Philippines will be included in the tour.

Greg Martin Hermosa, who is part of Soshified Philippines fan club, said they are following the online petition launched by Girls Generation fans in Indonesia.

“Since every Southeast Asian country has somehow done this (like Sone Indonesia just recently), why not the Philippines too? So instead of liking a page or something, we could formally assess how many people are going,” he said.

As of Feb. 6, a total of 870 Filipino fans have signed the online petition, according to the Facebook fan page of Soshified Philippines.

“I want them to come here. SNSD go here in the Philippines,” one fan with the username Ellyne wrote on the official website of Soshified Philippines.

Another fan with the handle CMS267 said, “We want SNSD’s Into the New World Concert Philippines.”
