Singer tries to commit suicide after GF's death

Singer Son Ho Young, a former member of the ’90’s boy band g.o.d., reportedly tried to kill himself after the death of his girlfriend, allegedly by lighting a coal briquette in his car in the early morning of May 24.

The suicide attempt was foiled when the inside of the car – which was at a church parking lot in Yongsan, Seoul – caught fire. He was rushed to the Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital for treatment.

"We're currently trying to figure things out. He was having a very hard time, and we're sorry about the news," a source told ENewsWorld.

Son Ho Young's incident occurred a day after he attended his girlfriend's funeral at the Seoul Memorial Park on May 23. Son Ho Young likewise attended his girlfriend's wake on May 22. Photos showed the singer crying as he held his girlfriend's photo at the funeral.

Last May 21, the body of his girlfriend was found in Son Ho Young's car. The National Forensic Service ruled the death as suicide.

The girlfriend borrowed the singer's car for practice driving. The two were reportedly dating for a year. His girlfriend committed suicide also by lighting a coal briquette in the car. She died of gas poisoning.

Found in the car were coal briquette, sleeping pills and a letter. The girlfriend's letter reportedly referenced to debt and her disappointment with the singer.

Following the incident, Son Ho Young went to the police to give his statement.

“With Son Ho Young’s album production, the couple had little fights, but nothing big that could have led to this incident. Son Ho Young is in great shock because he never imagined anything like this to happen," CJ E&M agency told ENewsWorld.

With his girlfriend's death, Son Ho Young decided to stop all his activities.

Last April, Son Ho Young won in the finals of the "Master Chef Korea Celebrity."
