The former head of boy band Block B's agency and the girlfriend
of singer Son Ho Young were found dead in two separate incidents of apparent
suicide.
Mr. Lee, the former CEO of Stardom Entertainment, who allegedly
took off with 70 million won (P2.6 million) from the boy band's parents and
disappeared, was found dead in his home.
The CEO was reported to have committed suicide in the basement
of his house. His body was found by a friend on May 20.
The police found no signs of foul play.
Last January, Block B sued their agency, Stardom Entertainment,
to annul their exclusive contracts, saying that the company did not pay their
income.
The boy band said Lee collected the money from their parents and
ran away. The money was supposed to be used for promotion.
Stardom denied the accusations, saying that from April 2011 to
October 2012, no profit was made from the boy band's activities so no payments
could be made.
Block B said these payments they should have received would come
from fees from original soundtrack participations and fan club inauguration.
Stardom also denied that Lee was the CEO of the agency.
"A man whom we had hired as a manager pretended to be the
head of Stardom Entertainment, forged nameplates, swindled money from a few
members and then went into hiding. We learned of this later on, but we had
hesitated on taking legal measures in case it would bring harm to Block
B," said the agency, according to ENewsWorld.
Stardom alleged there are persons behind Block B's decision to
sue the company.
Lee's funeral will be held today, May 22.
In another case of alleged suicide, the body of the girlfriend
of solo artist Son Ho Young, member of the defunct boy band g.o.d, was found in
the singer's car on May 21.
The Gangnam Police said the lifeless body of the woman was found
in Son Ho Young's car "parked near Apgujeong’s Misung Apartment Complex
with a lit coal briquette.”
ENewsworld reported, "Inside the car, a coal briquette, a
brazier, a bottle of sleeping pills, and a letter were found, making it appear
as if it was a suicide."
Son Ho Young already went to the police to give his statement.
His agency said the two were dating for a year.
The woman borrowed So Ho Young's car for practice driving.
“With Son Ho Young’s album production, the couple had little
fights, but nothing big that could have led to this incident. Son Ho Young is
in great shock because he never imagined anything like this to happen,”
ENewsWorld quoted CJ E&M as saying.
