Big Bang leader G-Dragon’s latest album “Coup d’etat” has entered
several charts on Billboard including the Billboard 200.
Parts 1 and 2 of the album were released online last Sept. 2 and 5 and
both charted on Billboard.
“Coup d’etat, Pt. 1″ debuted at No. 182 on the Billboard 200 chart. Part
1 consists of the songs “Coup d’etat,” “Niliria (featuring Missy Elliot),”
R.O.D. (featuring Lydia Paek),” “Black (featuring Jennie Kim)” and “Who You?”.
This is the second time for Big Bang to land on the chart. In March last
year, Big Bang’s album “Alive” debuted at No. 150 on Billboard 200.
“Coup d’etat, Pt. 1″ and “Coup d’etat, Pt. 2″ copped the first two
places on the World Albums with Part 1 being labeled as a “hot shot debut” by
Billboard.
“Coup d’etat, Pt. 2″ includes the songs “Crooked,” “Shake the World,”
“MichiGo,” “Niliria (G-Dragon version),” and “You Do.”
On Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart, Part 1 debuted at No. 3 while
Part 2 landed at No. 5.
Several songs from the album also debuted in the Top 20 on the Billboard
K-pop 100 chart. “Crooked” landed at No. 2, “Black” at No. 3, “Who You?” at No.
4, “I Love You” at No. 13, “Coup d’etat” at No. 15 and “Go” at No. 17.
According to YG Entertainment, “Coup d’etat, Pt. 1″ topped eight
countries on the iTunes albums chart upon its release.
All the five songs in Part 1 grabbed the first five places in various
online music charts in Korea.
In South Korea, the songs in the album topped the Gaon chart rankings
for the Sept. 1 to 7 period.
On the digital singles chart, G-Dragon copped six of the Top 10 places.
“Who You?” ranked No. 1 while “Black” is at No. 2, “Coup d’etat” at No. 5,
“R.O.D.” at No. 6, “Crooked” at No. 7 and “Niliria (featuring Missy Elliot) is
at No. 9.
“Who You?” also topped the online downloads for the week while five
other songs from the album are in the Top 10.
G-Dragon performed on “M Countdown” on Sept. 12 and won the music chart
trophy.
All the songs in Part 1 and 2 and two others, “Window” and “Black
(featuring Sky Ferreira),” are all included in the physical album, which will
be released today.
“Coup d’etat” has racked up 300,000 in pre-orders, according to YG
Entertainment.
