Billboard has released its “14 Artists
to Watch in 2014″ list and it includes Korean boy band EXO.
“They’re not household names… yet, but
these 14 music makers – including pop stars in the making, soulful UK upstarts,
an up and coming rapper, and a few hot groups – are primed to do big things
this year,” according to Billboard.com.

Making it to the list are John Newman,
FKA Twigs, Lo-Fang, Holychild, Jillian Banks, HAERTS, Sam Smith, Ella Eyre,
Rich Homie Quan, EXO, Hot Since 82, Sampha, Sza and Sohn.
“EXO looks positioned to be K-pop’s
next crossover phenom with an American fanbase brewing for the 12-member boy
band,” Billboard.com said.
EXO rose to fame in 2013, thanks to
their first studio album “XOXO,” which featured the songs “Growl” and “Wolf.”
The album was released in two versions
as well as its repackaged format. The four versions sold more than one million
copies last year.
“Growl” is the third most viewed K-pop
music video on YouTube in the US, according to Billboard. The music video was
released on YouTube last July and it has accumulated 24 million views to date.
“Growl” and “Wolf” became the fifth and
ninth biggest selling K-pop songs in the US based on Billboard’s World Digital
Songs yearend chart.
The chart was topped by Psy’s “Gangnam
Style” and “Gentleman.” Other songs in the top 10 are Big Bang’s “Fantastic
Baby,” Girls’ Generation’s “I Got A Boy,” 2NE1′s “I Am the Best,” CL’s “The
Baddest Female,” Psy’s “Right Now” and 2NE1′s “Falling in Love.”
